Tenerife too

September 29th, 2008 | Category: Photography, Travel

Wall street dropped a record 778 points today and it is only the start of the week. Dam. At least economic collapse will push the effects of peak oil off a bit. Maybe.
I guess if all fails we could always go and live in a tent by a beach, eat fish and try and get surfing dialed in. Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay? Hmm, decisions, decisions, but not yet.

Tenerife

September 27th, 2008 | Category: Photography, Racing, Travel

Just got back from a week on the Volcanic Island of Tenerife. I have loads of photos and will probably put up some more up when I get the chance.
The economy is so messed up all over the world, and Tenerife is no exception. I guess they are hurting pretty bad with the lack of people and massive over development in some areas. Especially with the collapse of XL airlines and all the others, it will be hard to fill the multitude of wickedly ugly new developments there. The island itself is stunning and so diverse from the top of the Volcano, down to the sea shore and from Lava rocks in one bay, to beaches in another, Las Vegas style developments in the south and small hippy surf villages in the North. Jule’s brother Paul is studying there so we stayed with him and had a solid tour of the local spots, including some reef breaks at which I felt well out of my depth!

Paul Cruising…

….and ripping Kelly Slater style. Check the rock sticking out on the left.. I nearly impaled myself on it shortly afterwards.

Derestricted Lobster 002

September 26th, 2008 | Category: Lobsters

Ok, here’s the Derestricted Lobster again, triep to incorporate the wishbone/shockabsorber legs that I mentioned before, gave it a air inlet on top as well and thought that maybe there should be a helmet popping up in front of the air duct? Like a tiny human driver sitting inside the lobster vehicle (or a ridiculously big lobster with a normal sized human…)! m.

Please feedback!

This particular lobster featuers racing goggles, body painted racing number, bad ass exhaust pipes and a bad ass rear wing. And a blue background…  /m.

Snow above 2000m this weekend

September 12th, 2008 | Category: Photography, Snow

Yeap, although it’s 27 degrees right now and I’m sweating like a one-legged man at an ass kicking contest, it’s forecast to snow over 2000m this weekend. Get your stoke on for the new season with some great photos here. Talking of stoke, Westbeach should have a new site and gear up soon.

Ahhhhrrrrrrr!

My blood just started boiling when I watched that interview with Palin yesterday. I mean, is she just ignorant, or lying and trying to deceive people?

“For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable,” she said.

First of all, they WERE provoked, Georgia’s military offensive into South Ossetia in August 7 was what kicked things off and in fact the provocation goes way deeper than that from the US arming and training Georgia, to offering them NATO membership etc. She is leaving the door open for war with Russia as well as Iran which is even more dangerous than Bush’s wars. Second of all, America has invaded Iraq (unprovoked), Afghanistan, is now conducting cross border raids into Pakistan and supports the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, not to mention their pressure and bullying of almost all other countries. Where is her condemnation of those unacceptable actions? The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

The other point evident in that interview and speeches past is her medieval mindset, she seems like a total religious nut, hellbent on continuing the crusades:

Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a “task that is from God.”

Man, she is even using god to help her get a pipeline built.
She seems crazy, but also dangerous when the majority of people will probabally believe her.
The mainstream media manipulation of events so recent that I am amazed they are not being called out on it and the tricks and tricknology of these leaders is once again being duly noted. Real eyes.

Peace.

Burial

September 08th, 2008 | Category: Music

By far and away one of the most standout albums I have heard for a long time is Burial – Untrue. Deep, hauntingly beautiful Dubstep. Sometimes I feel it takes me to places I havent yet been and at others it transports me deep into my past. Good times and bad. It creates stunningly visual acoustic landscapes and I didnt even have a smoke and listen to it yet.
He did a remix of Wayfaring stranger which you can check out below:

London – Sketch

September 05th, 2008 | Category: Design, Party, Photography, Travel

So I hopped over to London for the night to go to the Scirroco Studios/Intersection magazine talk/Party at Sketch club. The party lasted a lot longer than the talk with free champagne and beer flowing all night. There were some interesting ideas presented at the talk and the club and DJ’s were brilliant, but my overriding thought from the event was how wack people dress. There was a lot of trashy/Glam 80’s style with loads of big hair and tight pants and too many other bizzare cuts and combinations of styles to go into right now, but I guess it was pretty interesting. Pop already eaten itself. And then thrown up.

I didnt buy any new shoes for almost as long as I didnt visit London. Over a year, but I couldnt resist these.

I felt kind of like this the next morning.

Normally Obey shit annoys me, but this was one of the best things I saw on the whole trip. (*Apart from my Fam)
