CB in the works
A friend of mine at Kiska is doing amazing things with his old CB. I hope to be able to give a full rundown of his project eventually, but while dissembling and cleaning every piece of the bike in the classic manner, he is approaching the rebuild in a really unique way, using modern bike design methods, scanning the old bike and creating 3d models of the new pieces he is making for it.
It’s amazing how heavy the pieces on this old bike are, the only bikes I have taken apart are motocross bikes so I was pretty surprised when I lifted up these air filters to take a photo of them.
More Miss hyde
Osiyuyu kindly sent me some more pictures shot by Kristina Fender of the Miss Hyde KTM.
Makes me a little ashamed how stock my Duke is. The only visible change I have done is take off the right hand wing mirror.

AMA Motocross Southwick
Hurricane Irene held off just long enough for the riders to take to the track at the tenth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series at MX-338 where Red Bull/KTM rider Mike Alessi earned 5th overall in the 450 Motocross class while his teammate Marvin Musquin took 6th overall in the 250 Motocross class.

Michelin pilot
Back in the day when I used to skate a lot, there was nothing as good as getting a new board. The feel of the clean tacky grip tape under my feet, the smooth pop of the new wood. Times have changed as has my mode of transport, but the feeling of some new rubber on my duke is every bit as sweet. I was never really into the old race focused super corsa pros the duke came with, they just took way too long to get warm and you had to push pretty hard to keep the temperature up. After only a short drive home the michelins already felt much better so where once i would have popped an Oli i couldn’t resist popping a nice long wheelie instead and ended up with a stern finger wag from a bus driver in return.
MISS HYDE KTM 950
Interesting 2006 KTM 950 SM custom over at solitarioMC. It seems maybe a little high, but it’s got some really nice touches and looks like it would be wicked fun to ride. Love the photos too by Kristina Fender.

Krispl for lunch
Man, it’s hot outside! So nice! Somewhat of a heatwave has been going on here for the past couple of weeks which has been brilliant.
My friend Maxime and I set off for lunch heading as high up as we could to cool off .

Rok Bagoros On the winning ways

Pro stunt rider Rok Bagoros scored supreme victory at the international stunt riding event in Hungary. The event itself has a long tradition and is one of the most important in Europe, even if doesn’t count for any official championship.
Since last year, when Rok was among rookies and took penultimate position in rankings, he improved dramatically. In just one year he climbed form the bottom, to the very top in his class. Rok and his KTM 125 Duke put on a fantastic show which was a result of a hard training program. Rok was training last days before the event without any mercy to his body and KTM stunt machine, but the final result paid for everything when he stepped on the top of the podium.
‘This victory mean a lot to me, since the competition was very hard and already a small mistake would cost me valuable points. To win among the juniors who ride on such high level I had to show all my skills in 4 minute show, where I put numerous tricks, combined with flawless performance and connected them with my recognizable and unique riding style’.
Next opportunity to show the stunting world his mixture of elegance and aggressive riding style will be in France on the Stunt Bike show 2011 in September , where Rok will try to win the 125 cc class with his loyal KTM Duke. After a superb win at the last year event in scooter class, the goal is now to prove his talent also on the motorbike.

Derestricted bikenstein
Didn’t really find anything bike related worth posting today so I made another quick bikenstein. As usual it’s not completely resolved, but is loosely based on an RC8 base.
Catching up with Grant Langston
Looking as smooth and fast as ever.
Starck’s soapbox
We made this buggy here at Kiska for Philippe Starck and Intersection magazine. I guess you can read what you like into it, but I saw it as quite a profound statement on the state of the car industry at the time (2008).

MXGP 13th round Matterley Basin, UK

Roczen dominates MX2 action at British GP
Ken Roczen was in a class of his own on the Matterley Basin near Winchester in the UK to take the British GP with two clear wins from gate drop to checkered flag. Roczen was untouchable in both motos to log his 18th moto win for the season and his eighth GP victory.
The German teenager now needs only four points to take the championship title and with the next GP at home in Galldorf, he will receive a huge ovation from the German fans. After Sunday’s race, KTM has also already secured the MX2 manufacturer’s title for 2011. It would be Roczen’s first career world title in MX2 in his second year with the Red Bull Teka KTM Factory racing.
What was a copybook ride for Roczen was less successful for his teammate Jeffrey Herlings. He finished with a 7-3 result on Sunday but a mistake in the final lap knocked the Dutch teenager from second to third in the moto and bumped him off the third place on the podium. With Herlings, as Roczen’s only rival for the title, sacrificing 24 points to Ken on Sunday now makes his teammate absolute favorite for the title. Jeffrey admitted later that he had some stomach problems and that it had been a disappointing weekend for him.
