Given that we see frost on most mornings already (in August?!) and there is a nice dusting of snow on the distant peaks, we figured we would drop some cosy Unisex flex fleece American Apparel Hoodies your way and get you through this transition into winter. This is not only our first hoodie project, but we are proud to do it in collaboration with our friends at Zerohedge.

Check the hoodies out here.

Valentino e Graziano Rossi

Having a son has really made me see the father son bond in a new light. I came across this photo of MotoGP superstar Vallentino Rossi with his dad back in 1988 and thought it was really sweet as his dad was obviously such a massive influence and motivating force in his life. Judging by the background they are already at a racetrack somewhere.

My old man bought me my first motorcycle for my 4th birthday and took me skiing in the same year, both of which in many ways set the course of my life. Even though he has grown more and more distant over the years, (3 months after the birth, he has yet to make any plans to see his grandson) I am really grateful to him for introducing me to 2 of the loves of my life.

15  second exposure with the 550d in salzburg the other night. I caught the tail end of the SUBSIDING PERSEIDS. Or maybe some UFO’s or something.

we watched a play, on a screen in the courtyard under the castle.

salzburger festspiele is on at the moment so it’s packed in SBZ.

it’s only a couple of mins to get above it all here though.

photo of a photo, love that color combo.

Just cleaned out my phone, and these are some of the pics.

Been up to the top of Gaisberg above Salzburg many times in the car, usually to ride down the back, but this time I finally cycled UP! 1hr 45mins of steep uphill! Not much fun really, especially as I chose the hottest day of the year, but it felt good to finally do it. Especially having a couple of beers and wuerstel at the top!

So, I am trying to learn for my motorcycle license test with the CD from the driving school, and there is the possibility to do the test in English too. The test is quite hard already but it is certainly not helped by the fact that the English doesn’t make any sense at all! WTF! What the hell does “I will direct a safety glance to the exit of the clown if possible” mean??? These are just a few examples, from one of the many categories I have to learn and it is all like this! This is starting to feel like mission impossible!

Write The Future

Apart from the world cup when I lived in Frakfurt I havent really watched much football since winning a 7-1 bet on Tottenham when they won the FA cup in 1991. In general it seems clear to me that football would be the latest chapter of “extraordinary popular delusions and the madness of crowds“, if such a thing were to be written. That being said, I do enjoy watching the odd match if there is nothing better to do, and this is one hell of a sick Nike Football commercial by Wieden+Kennedy posted up by Nalden.

Your Office Chair Is Killing You

May 3, 2010 at 6:49 pm
Category: Energy,Misc │ Comments: Leave a comment

If you’re reading this article sitting down—the position we all hold more than any other, for an average of 8.9 hours a day—stop and take stock of how your body feels. Is there an ache in your lower back? A light numbness in your rear and lower thigh? Are you feeling a little down?

These symptoms are all normal, and they’re not good. They may well be caused by doing precisely what you’re doing—sitting. New research in the diverse fields of epidemiology, molecular biology, biomechanics, and physiology is converging toward a startling conclusion: Sitting is a public-health risk. And exercising doesn’t offset it. “People need to understand that the qualitative mechanisms of sitting are completely different from walking or exercising,” says University of Missouri microbiologist Marc Hamilton. “Sitting too much is not the same as exercising too little. They do completely different things to the body.”

In a 2005 article in Science magazine, James A. Levine, an obesity specialist at the Mayo Clinic, pinpointed why, despite similar diets, some people are fat and others aren’t. “We found that people with obesity have a natural predisposition to be attracted to the chair, and that’s true even after obese people lose weight,” he says. “What fascinates me is that humans evolved over 1.5 million years entirely on the ability to walk and move. And literally 150 years ago, 90% of human endeavor was still agricultural. In a tiny speck of time we’ve become chair-sentenced,” Levine says.

The popular humours of a great city are a never-failing source of amusement to the man whose sympathies are hospitable enough to embrace all his kind, and who, refined though he may be himself, will not sneer at the humble wit or grotesque peculiarities of the boozing mechanic, the squalid beggar, the vicious urchin, and all the motley group of the idle, the reckless, and the imitative that swarm in the alleys and broadways of a metropolis. He who walks through a great city to find subjects for weeping, may, God knows, find plenty at every corner to wring his heart; but let such a man walk on his course, and enjoy his grief alone — we are not of those who would accompany him. The miseries of us poor earthdwellers gain no alleviation from the sympathy of those who merely hunt them out to be pathetic over them. The weeping philosopher too often impairs his eyesight by his woe, and becomes unable from his tears to see the remedies for the evils which he deplores. Thus it will often be found that the man of no tears is the truest philanthropist, as he is the best physician who wears a cheerful face, even in the worst of cases.

Salzburgland from above

There has been a lot of talk recently of the potential for lots of oil in the disputed falkland islands, which will help alleviate the upcoming (peak) oil crunch. Well, so much for that: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8592734.stm

Apparently the worlds oil reserves have also been overstated by a third, according to the Government’s former chief scientist, who has warned of shortages and price spikes within years. (Not exactly news, as it’s been known for a long time, but to hear it come from an official source is news)
