Rossfeld with lots of tourists

Rossfeld with lots of tourists

It’s been a fairly rubbish summer weather wise, so unsurprisingly as soon as the sun shines everybody heads out to enjoy it. It’s also August so a lot of people are on holiday around here right now. Anyway, had a pretty cool ride with my friends Maxime and Elvin at lunch but the roads were unusually full so there was lots of overtaking going on and it was a little tricky to get any decent photos.

Maxime leading Elvin

Elvin on his MV brutale. The engine sounds amazing on this thing.

Most of the time I was just pointing and shooting while riding, but I stopped at this spot to take some photos of the others and some bloke insisted on taking a photo of me, so here you go.

haha, i got to say after the ride the other day with you at KTM I was all up on getting another MX bike but then I got back and hoped on the Duke and man that thing felt just another level above, so comfy, such a better motor, perfect brakes, so smooth on the road, and I was just like hmmm, na maybe I’m going to keep this thing!
rent an MX bike yes, sell the duke to buy one? hmm naaaa.

haha better not rent a MX bike… these things feel just like another level above, so sportive, such a better motor, so light, perfect brakes, so smooth on dirt, safe in the air and U’ll be just like hmmm

hahaha we gotta go ride again… better sooner than later,

    damn piers – you don’t really compare riding MX to riding your duke, do you?! cause riding MX is THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD, absolutely incomparable to anything else and not just simply another level above…. but WAAAAYYYYY UP THERE!!! (;

Yea, just from hopping onto a street bike after riding enduro, couldn’t help to make a comparison. I love MX though, would ideally have an MX bike AND a street bike but thats not really affordable right now unfortunately. Overall having a street bike allows me to get more seat time than an MX bike would I guess and it’s wicked fun too.

I personally would happily ditch my street bike for an MX bike. But then again – I don’t need to. But if I had to make a choice: definitely MX! always.

how do you take photos while riding?! ever dropped your camera? have a mount? curious!

i keep it in my right front pocket and gas it once to make sure i have a bit of momentum so I can keep with the guys i wanna shoot, put it in neutral then take out the camera and take photos until i need to gas it again at which point i put it back in my pocket. The trickiest bit really is handling the camera with a thick leather glove on. Never dropped it no luckily. I always set up the right shutter speed and stuff before i set out too, then just point and shoot from the hip, pretty much blind but you get a feel for where you are aiming quite quickly. gets easier with practise too : )

@ patrick, yea Zacher rides pretty good. was fast in the technical slippery woods we rode the other day. I sucked, was well out of practise. haha.

Hard to get any decent photos? What? any of that lot beat all of my rideout album!!! awesome scenes where you are mate, Devon’s all blocked up with tourists too-so our trailbikes win hands flat when you can turn off the black stuff and rattle up a green lane….

thanks Andy. I go to Cornwall every year but never rode down there, imagine it must be excellent.

Ive not done any trail riding in cornwall, only surfing and jumping out of the odd plane or two.
Next time you are over if you fancy a trail guide in devon for a day give me a shout, i can show you some good bits-Im based near exeter and have a good loop around south dartmoor-all the old byways and cart routes are interesting and can be challenging in winter
i might be able to borrow a bike if need be
